BUY, SELL & CONNECT WITH CARE
The Ivory Vault brings people together to give wedding treasures their next love story. Because purchases, payments, shipping, and local exchanges are arranged directly between members, we encourage everyone to use good judgment and take a few simple precautions.
BEFORE YOU BUY
Review the entire listing carefully, including the description, photographs, condition, quantity, measurements, and pickup or shipping information.
Ask the seller questions before agreeing to purchase. For higher-value items, consider requesting additional photographs, measurements, receipts, or other information that helps you feel comfortable with the transaction.
If something seems too good to be true or a member pressures you to act quickly, use caution.
PAYMENTS
Buyers and sellers arrange payment directly with one another unless The Ivory Vault expressly provides another payment option.
Consider using a payment method that offers appropriate purchase or fraud protections. Understand the protections and limitations of your chosen payment method before sending money.
Never share passwords, verification codes, banking login information, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive financial information with another member.
LOCAL PICKUP
If you're meeting another member in person, consider meeting during daylight hours in a well-lit, public location.
Tell someone where you're going, and consider bringing another person with you.
You do not need to provide your home address simply because someone is interested in an item. Share only the information reasonably necessary to complete the exchange.
For large items that genuinely require pickup from a private residence, use extra care when making arrangements.
SHIPPING
Before sending payment, buyers should confirm the shipping method and any associated costs with the seller.
Sellers should package items appropriately and consider using tracked shipping. For valuable items, members may also wish to consider shipping insurance and signature confirmation.
Keep relevant shipping receipts and tracking information until the transaction is complete.
WATCH FOR SCAMS
Be cautious if someone:
- asks for unnecessary personal or financial information;
- sends suspicious links;
- asks you to send money before you've agreed to a transaction;
- claims to have overpaid and asks you to return money;
- pressures you to communicate or pay in an unusual way;
- offers a deal that appears suspicious or inconsistent with the listing; or
- asks you to provide passwords or verification codes.
If something feels suspicious, do not continue the transaction.
KEEP A RECORD
Whenever possible, use The Ivory Vault's messaging tools for conversations about an item. Keeping important transaction details in writing can help both members remember what was agreed upon.
MEMBER-TO-MEMBER TRANSACTIONS
The Ivory Vault provides a platform for members to discover items and connect with one another. Unless expressly stated otherwise, The Ivory Vault does not process member-to-member payments and does not possess, inspect, authenticate, ship, deliver, or guarantee member-listed items.
Buyers and sellers are responsible for deciding whether to enter into a transaction and for agreeing upon price, payment, shipping, pickup, returns, refunds, and other transaction terms.
